Musical bag

This paper piece was made with about 6 interlocking layers of abaca paper and fabric; then altered with pencil and acrylic lines and finally completed with the bamboo and clay elements in the top part of the piece.
I’m sad to say this piece is not in the Museum exhibit because it is in another country, but there are others of my works and many by renown artist in the paper arts from our community such as Chuck Hilger, John Babcock, Madelaine DeJollie, Karen Lauhban, and many more.

little clay Birds/Pajaritos en Ceramica

This is a process presentation on how to make small clay birds and how to finish them with white terra sigillata.
Terra sigillata is a process by which the application of refined slip is used to get a high satin gloss without a glaze, using simple, time-effective polishing methods. In this video I used a very simple recipe to make the sigillata and the polishing is done with just soft rubbing with plastic.

Horses Horses Horses

These are 36 of the 50 horses that I am making for the Sanchez art center 50/50 exhibit. I’m having a great time letting each image go where it may.
I am using 6″X6″ tiles which I draw with under-glaze pencils and add a splash of color with glaze. After firing the tiles I finish the pieces with encaustic medium and oil paints. I use additive and subtractive methods to achieve a rich, textural surface with a semi-translucent finish that gives the pieces an ephemeral quality.

Enjoy!
Here are at last horses 50 total Yeiiiii!!!!!!!
